Our Training Philosophy
“I feel strongly that a training stable should be a fun and productive place to be, both for the rider and their families. When someone chooses to enter my training program, they have made a serious commitment to their sport, and deserve my full attention and dedication."
Jan
The training program at JP Training is designed to offer year-round instruction for riders who own, lease or half – lease a horse. Jan recognizes that her clients and their families have busy schedules and with help from assistant trainer Priscilla Trees she offers instruction six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday, including during shows.
Jan’s training approach is geared towards developing not only a rider’s skill and confidence but also ensuring that their horse is able to perform at its best. Assistant Trainer Priscilla Trees, with JP Training since January 2008, makes a significant contribution to the program in this regard. Priscilla had a highly successful junior career finishing with numerous year-end awards, top 3 in the CPHA, LAHSA, ASPCA regional finals, top ten for WCE and USET finals. As an amateur, while riding with Lenny Marconi, Priscilla was Champion in the Norcal Senior Finals. Priscilla has since worked for Lenny Marconi as his assistant and later for Keri Kampsen and Joe Thorpe of Monarch International and Sovereign Place. Horses in the JP Training program benefit from Priscilla’s quiet, focused approach to their conditioning and performance.
Although most of Jan’s training clients do compete, instruction and full care is still available during shows for those who prefer a quieter life at home.
